Semaglutide for Weight Loss

Semaglutide is a synthetic GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) receptor agonist. It is a biotechnology-manufactured peptide drug with an optimized structure that is highly similar to, but more stable and longer-lasting in effect, the body's own GLP-1 hormone. It has a long-lasting effect, with its duration of action in the body far exceeding that of the natural hormone.

Semaglutide helps with weight loss through two main mechanisms:

Week 17 and beyond: 2.4mg per week (maintenance dose for ongoing therapy)

1. Elevation Period (Weeks 1-16): Gradually increase the dose to help the body adapt to the medication and reduce adverse reactions.

2. Maintenance Period (Week 17+): Maintain a dose of 2.4 mg/week for continued treatment, with regular follow-up visits to assess effectiveness.
